Betel’s ethos is founded in historic, mainstream Christianity. Thus, we put our emphasis in the restoration of personality that is found in the gospel. Whilst Betel residences and churches operate on Christian values and practices, anyone, regardless of race, gender or religion is welcome to participate in the life of each community.
Commitment To Radical Financial Principles
One of Betel’s main principles is that entrance should be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial means. Thus, while most long-term residential recovery centres charge between £250-£1,000 per week, Betel aims to be as self-supporting and sustainable as possible, allowing us to provide completely free residences to people who would otherwise have no opportunity.
We recive no statutory funding. Instead, the majority of funding for daily operations is generated through our charitable businesses and workshops, in which we train our residents (See Methods & Principles). We estimate that our centres in more than 80 cities save governments and families tens of millions each year in reduced costs to society.
An additional source of private funding is the donations we receive from individuals and collaborating churches, companies and other charities. Our accounts are readily available for public scrutiny.
Social Impact – Serving People’s Needs, Changing Neighbourhoods, One Life at a Time
In response to the unprecedented breakdown of social order, we have worked to reduce homelessness, long-term unemployment, violence, addiction, crime and the civil insecurity associated with the disintegration of the family. We have received testimonies from individuals, families, judges, police and government officials of how the work of Betel is changing lives and impacting entire neighbourhoods in multiple nations.
